File ready to upload to your bank
TruckerPro writes payments in CPA-005, the Payments Canada standard Canadian banks use for electronic funds transfer files. Banks differ in the details they accept, so test with yours first.
Select the bills you are paying this run and put them in one file instead of keying each payment into online banking.
Owner-operator and contractor pay runs go into the same kind of file, straight from approved settlements.
Download the file and upload it through your bank’s business banking. Your bank processes the payments.
Each payment in the file is recorded against its bill or settlement, so payables and statements stay current.
Approval limits and sign-offs at your bank still apply. TruckerPro never holds or moves your money.
EFT files are a business banking service. Before you can upload a CPA-005 file, your bank sets you up with an EFT agreement and an Originator ID. Ask your business banking contact for EFT file transfer; it is often called direct payments or EFT origination.
Once you have it, enter the details in TruckerPro and your files carry your Originator ID. Files are for Canadian dollar payments from a Canadian bank account.
Each bank applies the CPA-005 standard with its own details, such as the record types and fields it requires. Ask your bank for its file specification and send a test file before your first live payment run.
Owner-operators and parts suppliers want to be paid on time, and cheques take time to print, sign, mail and clear. A file built from the bills and settlements you already approved replaces a stack of cheques or a long session of typing payees into online banking.
You keep the same approvals you have today: pick what to pay in TruckerPro, download the file, and let whoever signs at your bank release it.
